Do you know how old Homestead Dam is?

Sir George Farrar, from the Kleinfontein Estates and Township Company, was instrumental in building the Homestead and Kleinfontein dams. The dams were completed in 1896. The Blaauwpan (near Bonaero Park) and Blesbokspruit (Jet Park) flow into Homestead Dam. The water sources were valuable to the mines when they started in the 1880s, as they needed large amounts of water for their mining and crushing operations. Canoeists are seen on Homestead Dam.
